RTE

As part of its preparations for the rollout of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), RTÉ needed to test the sound quality of the audio descriptions that are included within programmes for the benefit of blind and partially sighted viewers.

We organised and ran a number of field trials in people’s homes, using live test broadcasts and new DTT receivers. The results of the trial confirmed that the broadcasts were of sufficient quality and that RTÉ could proceed confidently with the rollout of audio description via DTT.

"We are extremely grateful to the CFIT team for this work, and also very glad that the results are positive." – Dr. Anne O’Connor, Special Advisor to the Director General, RTÉ
