TV Access Coalition

CFIT founded TV Access, a major coalition of organisations from across the disability, ageing and poverty sectors, concerned about access to television for older people and people with disabilities in the digital age, particularly after the analogue switch-off in 2012.

TV Access lobbies Government, regulators and industry on the accessibility of digital television services and consumer equipment and the practicality and affordability of making the switch to digital. The TV Access website is a source of news and information about accessibility issues in digital TV.

In digital technology, the analog wave is sampled at some interval, and then turned into numbers that are stored in the digital device.

I'd say you need a second hard drive. I've been at that stage, and even if you get a bit of space freed up here and there, it won't be enough to significantly matter.
